The Honorable Dennis Bonnen was sworn in as Texas Speaker of the House on January 8, 2019. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen was elected by his workmates to be the speaker, as Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen showed the best performance in their field by leading the unity of their work in addressing the issues or problems of the state. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen aims to the productivity and efficient handling in government that will be beneficial to the Texans by setting aside politics in order to find the best solutions that will address the state’s issues. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen has been serving the Texas House of Representatives for more than 20 years, the 25th House district has been represented by Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen that holds the southern Brazoria County and the entire Matagorda County. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen was first elected to be the Legislature at the age of 24 before he joined the house in 1997 and he have began his 12th term of office on January 2019.
Before becoming the Speaker of the House, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen served the three legislative sessions as a Speaker Pro Tempore. During his 84th and 85th sessions, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen served as the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and in the 85th session as their member of the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen has served as the Chairman of the Environmental Regulation Committee, Sunset Advisory Committee and the House Special Purpose Districts Committee, also as a Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Oversight of Higher Education Governance, Excellence and Transparency, and a member of the Natural Resource Committee. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen was raised and born on the Gulf Coast and have resided with his wife and family in Lake Jackson, Texas. While the Honorable Speaker Dennis Bennin stayed at home in Brazoria County he is involved in a lot of community activities and is well loved by his community, he served as the honorary chairman of Brazosport College’s “Count on Us” campaign, and the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement and B.I.G Love Cancer Care Services, and an honorary member of the Brazoria and Matagorda County Cavalries. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen even served as an honorary co-chairman of the Leukemia Society, Light the Night Walk, and Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament, while being an active supporter of the Brazoria County Fair, BACH, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, ActionS, Inc., and local Boys and Girls Clubs.
